Webinar: Legal aspects of the video game industry, its protection via intellectual property rights, eplayers and case studies
The Webinar will analyze the aspects related to the intellectual property of video games, the legal nature of this type of works, their owners, authors and the rights that are generated, as well as the new forms of exploitation: gameplays, e-sports and certain secondary exploits of video games.
The legal protection of video games in Latin America will also be considered via intellectual property rights (mainly copyrights, as well as trademarks, patents, publicity rights and some references to user data protection and eplayers), as well as the transfer of the patrimonial rights of the developers to the producers, and a case study analysis in judicial litigation in sports.
A third panelist will analyze the perspective on the subject in the United States, referring to the following points:
The overall legal structure of the Gaming Industry and related IP issues from a US perspective.
User Generated Content and Privacy issues. How do developers handle content created by users and data collected from them (EULAs and Privacy Policies)
Streaming/eSports rights: How do developers and publishers handle the rights to streamers, eSports tournaments, and other uses of their content online.
Advertising law and sponsorship – legal problems related to paid “influencers”. What disclosures are required and how does this affect the contracts with these paid influencers (like PewDiePie, eg.)
Speakers: Andy Ramos Gill de la Haza, José Roberto Herrera, Chris Reid
