Successfully starts the Intellectual Property Course for Judges and Prosecutors in the Dominican Republic

On July 27 and 28, ASIPI successfully celebrated the first module of the Intellectual Property Course for Judges and Prosecutors in the Dominican Republic. The activity is an initiative of the Dominican Association of Intellectual Property (ADOPI) with the support of ASIPI, and with the collaboration of the National Academy of the Judiciary (ENJ) and the National Academy of the Public Ministry (ENMP) of that country.

The Pontifical University Catholic Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) welcomed the 35 judges and prosecutors for two full days of intensive classes and academic debates. Maria del Pilar Troncoso, President of ASIPI, along with Dr. Gervasia Valenzuela, Director of the ENJ, Prof. Juan F. Puello, Coordinator of the Master’s Degree in Intellectual Property and Héctor Alies, Academic Coordinator of Postgraduate Legal Sciences of the same University, gave Formal opening to the course.

During the first day, Prof. Rafael Ortin gave the basic notions of Copyright and Related Rights. While the introduction to Intellectual Property was developed on the second day by Prof. Marco Palacios.

The activity was very well received by the participating judges and prosecutors, who expressed the importance of constant training in the area for public officials.

The next module of the course is scheduled to take place on August 24 and 25, also at the PUCMM facilities.
