Founding partner of OlarteMoure, a 170-peope firm specializing in industrial property and competition law, with offices in Bogotá, Medellín, Barranquilla, Bucaramanga and Tokyo. His professional practice focuses on patent prosecution, litigation and related counsel, including strategic planning for the protection and value assessment of new technologies. A significant percentage of his practice is devoted to the pharmaceutical research industry. Another important customer base includes universities and local companies with high innovation content.

Carlos obtained a B.S.E. in Biomedical and Mechanical Engineering from Duke University in 1990. He then went on to law school at Chicago-Kent College of Law, where he obtained his J.D. in 1993. He is a licensed lawyer in the State of Illinois and the Republic of Colombia.

Since 1997 has been professor of the patent law at the Externado University of Colombia (Specialization Program in Industrial Property and New Technologies). He has also actively participated in WIPO patent drafting workshops in several continents.
