He graduated from the Technological University of Panama with a degree in Electromechanical Engineering in 2005. He received his degree as Doctor in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University in 2011, where he studied thanks to the Scholarship Program of Professional Excellence administered by the Secretariat National Science, Technology and Innovation of Panama (SENACYT). At the beginning of his career he practiced professionally as an electrical designer and later as an engineer in power generation plants. Since 2006 he works at the Technological University of Panama where he currently works as a full-time professor at the School of Electrical Engineering. Dr. Barazarte develops research projects in the areas of power systems, non-conventional electrical machines, power electronics, energy sustainability and engineering education. Since February 2016, he has been involved with the Regional Technological Patent for Development Initiative of the CAF (Development Bank of Latin America), first as a participant and then as a facilitator. Professionally offers private consulting services in Power Systems, Energy Technologies, Higher Education and Patentable Technological Innovation. In addition, he is a member of the Panamanian Association for the Advancement of Science (APANAC), of Sigma Xi and a Senior Member of the IEEE.
