ASIPI supports Interactive Forum on Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights in Latin America

tequilaWith the presence of important representatives of the local Intellectual Property Offices of Belize, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, El Salvador, United States, Guatemala, Mexico, Paraguay, Panama, Peru, Uruguay and Dominican Republic, the role of the Intellectual Property offices on Enforcement of IPRs was analyzed, in order to seek greater participation of the same in such actions. Based on the laws and practice of each of the countries, issues such as Boarder Measures, Free Trade Zones, Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights in the Digital Area, Coordination among Enforcement Agencies, were addressed generating interesting discussions and exchange of views among participants.

Daniel Marti, I.P. Enforcement Coordinator of the United States (IPEC), Miguel Angel Margain , Director General of IMPI, Etienne Sanz de Acedo , Executive Director of INTA, William F. Dobson, Deputy Director of BASCAP and Todd Reves, IP Regional Attaché for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, among other members of these delegations, were present.

ASIPI was represented at this important forum by our President Maria del Pilar Troncoso, who moderated the session on Border Measures, and our Treasurer Enrique Diaz. We were also pleased to offer a dinner on April 18 at Hacienda Centenario.

We will continue supporting this type of meetings that strengthen collaboration to promote respect for intellectual property rights.
