Rafael Covarrubias, Second Vice President of ASIPI, attended the first IACC-UL Latin America Regional Brand Protection Summit, organized by the International Anti-Counterfeiting Coalition (IACC), which took place from June 22-23 in Miami, Florida.

The summit was developed with the goal of promoting regional cooperation in the fight against counterfeiting and piracy. Sessions were held with delegates from governments of Latin American countries, discussing aspects of their nations in terms of policies and enforcement of laws related to Intellectual Property.

Within the 5 panels that were held, Rafael Covarrubias participated as a speaker in the session titled “Developing and Sustaining Enforcement Cooperation to Combat Transnational IP Crimes”. In his intervention, he explained how ASIPI is fighting piracy, through its Anti-Counterfeit Committee, the ‘ASIPI Educa’ project, the Seminar on Anti-Counterfeiting held in Aruba last March, and other initiatives.
