ASIPI participates in Seminar on Enforcement in Panama

Enrique Díaz, Vice-President 1, María del Pilar Troncoso, Past President and María Cecilia Romoleroux, President of the Anti-counterfeiting Committee of ASIPI, participated in the “Sub-regional Seminar on the Observance of Intellectual Property Rights for Law Enforcement Agencies” together with our National Delegates in Panama, Yolianna Arosemena and Monique Ferrer, as well as our Member of Honor, Ileana Martinelli, on April 25 and 26 in Panama City.

The seminar, which had ASIPI´s support, was organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the World Customs Organization (WCO) and the General Directorate of the Industrial Property Registry (DIGERPI) of the Ministry of Commerce and Industries of Panama in collaboration with the Patent and Trademark Office of the United States of America (USPTO) and the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office, OA (OEPM).

This event was attended by 80 people, including judges, prosecutors, customs authorities and other officials from Central America and the Dominican Republic, who for two days listened to the presentations on different aspects of IP and had the opportunity to express their concerns, exchange opinions and receive answers to their questions.

Within the presentations, María del Pilar Troncoso participated with the topic “Counterfeiting of Trademarks: Regional Perspective” and María Cecilia Romoleorux with the topic “The Role of Rights Holders in the Effective Enforcement of IP”.

Mr. Leonardo Uribe, Director of the DIGERPI, publicly thanked the support and participation of ASIPI in the Seminar.
