Ariela Agosin is a Senior Partner and the Head of Albagli Zaliasnik’s IP, Civil, Commercial, Regulatory (including Life Science) and Antitrust Litigation area as well as the Arbitration Group, while maintaining a strong presence in the IP Group at Albagli Zaliasnik.
She has extensive experience in matters of international law, civil and commercial litigation, including the areas of unfair competition, antitrust, arbitration, advertising law, life science and intellectual property. With relation to IP, Ariela oversees issues and disputes regarding trademarks, patents, copyrights, information technology, and licensing, including the litigation related to these matters. Furthermore, her wide scope of practice includes brand protection in general and complex proceedings in the pharmaceutical and health care industries, specifically relating to patents. Ariela has successfully represented transnational clients for more than 20 years, including Abbott, Etex Group, Netflix and Walmart.
Year after year, Ariela continues to be one of the top lawyers in her respective fields. Major publications and rankings such as Chambers & Partners, Benchmark Litigation, Best Lawyers, IAM Patent 1000, World Trademark Review, and Managing IP regularly distinguish Ariela’s outstanding work. For the last two years, Ariela has been listed among the “Top 25 Women Litigators in Latin America” by the publication, Benchmark Litigation and for the 2020 calendar year, the “Best Lawyer in Chile in Intellectual Property” by the publication, Best Lawyers, and was recently given the honour to be qualified as Band 1 in IP Law in Chambers and Partners.
Ariela is a lawyer from the University of Chile and has a Master of Laws from Florida’s St. Thomas University. Until 2016 she was President for the Americas of the Global Advertising Lawyers Alliance (GALA), she is currently an Ethics Judge within the Chilean Bar Association and also an active member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) where she was Chair of the Committee on Emerging Issues as well as the Sub Committee Chair on Legislation and Regulation for Latin America. Moreover, Ariela is aa active member of the Inter-American Association of Intellectual Property (ASIPI).
