Partner at Bermúdez Durana Abogados. Between 2012 and 2015 José Alejandro was the inaugural Data Protection Superintendent of Colombia at SIC. As an advisor to the Superintendent of Industry and Commerce, between 2009 and 2011, he created the Financial Habeas Data Working Group at SIC. Member of the Working Group tasked with drafting the Data Protection Law Project (in force today as Law 1581 of 2012) and its secondary regulations.
As Data Protection Superintendent he was a member of the Executive Committee of the Ibero-American Data Protection Network and represented Colombia as part of the multiagency team in in the access process before the OECD (Digital Policy).
Currently also Latin American Advisor for Centre for Information Policy Leadership (CIPL) in Washington, member of GECTI at Universidad de los Andes and y Colombian Chair for the Latin-American Privacy Association (ALAP).
