Curriculum Vitae

Luis Guinard has a degree in Law and Political Science from the University of Panama (1992); Has a master’s degree in Commercial Law of Catholic University Santa María La Antigua of Panama (Magna Cum Laude) and master’s studies in Banking Law from the same university. He has postgraduate studies in the Franchise Executives Certification Program from Anahuac University of Mexico. He also has diplomas in Data Protection and Accountability and Copyright and Entertainment Law, both from the University of Los Andes, Bogota, Colombia as well as diploma studies in Intellectual Property from Universidad Austral, Buenos Aires, Argentina . He is a professor of Intellectual Property Law and Banking Law at Catholic University Santa María La Antigua of Panama.

He is a former President of the Panamanian IP Law Association, is the current President of the Competition Committee of ASIPI, former President of the Andean Chapter of LES International and Former president of the Panamanian group to AIPPI. He participated in the negotiations of the Panamanian Private Sector in the negotiations of the IP chapters of the Free Trade Agreements between Panama and U.S., Peru, European Union, Mexico and EFTA, as part of the private sector. He is a partner at Guinard & Noriega and IP specialized law firm and is a partner of a franchising consultancy firm.
