Brief introduction of current situation regarding the protection of genetic resources in Latin America and Asia is presented. How genetic resources are protected from the existing intellectual property legal frame work in Latin America and challenges related thereto will be discussed. Conventional issues and some recent updates on such legal frame work are presented.
