Advantages of the Protection of Products in Origin and the Promotion of Cultural Identity

In this webinar which took place on May 22, Chile and Colombia projects were presented whose objective is to seek the preservation and encouragement of special forms of manufacturing, traditional crafts and unique products through the use of tools provided by IP, such as collective and certification marks, geographical indications and appellations of origin.

The speakers were Paola Guerrero (Sello de Origen Program - Chile) and Alexander Parra (Artesanías de Colombia - Colombia) and the moderators Carmen Paz Álvarez (Muñoz Jeanneret Alvarez - Chile) and Guillermo Ballesteros Villalobos (Arochi & Lindner - Mexico).

The importance of creating these programs in our countries to train and sensitize producers, farmers, fishermen and artisans about the importance of protecting products of origin and the benefits that this entails (best practices, marketing, traceability and access to consumers) was highlighted.
