ASIPI’s Industrial Designs and Trade Dress Committee has developed this interactive map as an illustrative and practical tool that allows users to quickly and accurately consult key information on the level of protection for industrial designs across various jurisdictions.
Through the map, users can explore, among other aspects, whether a country is a member of the Hague Agreement, whether the protection of handicrafts is accepted under industrial design law, and whether the protection of “shapes and parts” of products is allowed, among other relevant questions.
This tool serves as a fundamental guide for lawyers, designers, companies, artisans, and authorities interested in understanding the scope and available mechanisms for protecting their designs in different regions of the world.
(*) Indicates the presence of a specific exception or casuistry that requires a more detailed explanation, which cannot be resolved with a mere binary choice of ‘yes’ or ‘no’.
