Legislative behavior, doctrinal and jurisprudential development of Geographical Indications (GI) and their differences and similarities with trademarks

 

Among the works carried out by the Committee of Geographical Indications of the Inter-American Association of Intellectual Property (ASIPI), we were responsible for continuing to delve into the subject corresponding to the regulation of Geographical Indications (GI), Denominations of Origin (PDO) and their differences and similarities with trademarks, taking into account the advances in the legislative field, its administrative application and its jurisprudential development.
The countries analyzed were:
– Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru by Dr. Arturo Tello;
– Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay, by Dr. Peter Siemsen and Dr. Ana Lucia De Sousa Borda; Y,
– Cuba, Spain, Panama, Dominican Republic and Venezuela, corresponded to the undersigned.
