Lawyer specialized in management of intellectual property with emphasis on innovation, patents, contracts and negotiations of technology transfer. Specialist in regulatory issues of research and agri-food law.

Graduated from the University of Costa Rica in 1988, with a specialty in intellectual property and technology transfer from the Franklin Pierce Law Center and other centers such as the Global Intellectual Property Academy of the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Michigan State University, the University of California at Davis, the WIPO Academy, etc. Her area of ​​greatest interest is the patenting and management of intellectual property. She has done basic studies in biology, agronomy and is a graduate of the PhD in Agricultural Sciences of the Faculty of Agronomy of the University of Costa Rica. She is also an expert in research regulatory issues such as access to biological resources, ethics in research and biosafety.

For more than ten years she served as Legal Advisor to the Vice-Rector for Research of the University of Costa Rica and the Technology Transfer Office of the same University, now PROINNOVA. She has also been an international consultant on these issues for WIPO, SIECA, FAO, IICA, the World Bank, FONTAGRO and advises research centers and universities both nationally and internationally.

She is currently a legal advisor in PROINNOVA of the Vice-Rector for Research of the University of Costa Rica, legal advisor of the National Seed Office of Costa Rica and as an international consultant.
