Christine Hernandez is Assistant General Counsel for VF Intellectual Property Services, Inc. and the associated intellectual property holding companies of VF Corporation.  She primarily focuses on The North Face, Timberland, Wrangler, Rock & Republic and Eagle Creek brands, providing expertise on a wide array of intellectual property issues including trademark selection and clearance, advertising and domain name matters.  She is active in VF’s anti-counterfeiting efforts, including implementing online enforcement strategies and regularly training federal law enforcement personnel on identifying genuine VF products.  She also manages third party licensing for VF’s brands, including worldwide licensing for the Wrangler and Lee brands.  She joined VF in 2014 and is based in Wilmington, Delaware.

Ms. Hernandez began her career in private practice, where she counseled clients in a diverse array of industries on the selection, clearance and adoption of trademarks, including complex multinational trademark filing and acquisition strategies.  She also handled all stages of infringement and Trademark Trial and Appeal Board matters and advised on corporate transactions involving intellectual property assets.  Ms. Hernandez has extensive experience in intellectual property litigation, with an emphasis on copyright, trademark and trade secret matters.  Her previous matters include successfully defending Google and YouTube in related cases brought by various content holders for alleged copyright infringement relating to videos posted by users on the YouTube website.

Ms. Hernandez is an active member of the International Trademark Association, where she currently serves on the Unreal Campaign Committee, a public awareness initiative designed to educate teenagers on the importance of intellectual property and the dangers of counterfeit products.  She also is a member of the planning team for the 2017 Annual Meeting in Barcelona, Spain.

Ms. Hernandez received her bachelor’s degree from Harvard University and her juris doctorate from Columbia Law School.
