Vice President and Global Head of IP Affairs for Novartis, a global healthcare company headquartered in Basel, Switzerland.  Based in the Company’s Washington DC office, Corey leads a cross-divisional global function responsible for defining and developing the Company’s core positions and directing and implementing its global advocacy efforts with respect to intellectual property (IP) law and policy, and issues at the intersection of IP, innovation, and global access.  A graduate of Yale University and Stanford Law School, Corey has over 15 years of experience practicing law in the areas of IP, IP Policy, media and technology.  Prior to joining Novartis, Corey was an IP litigator in private practice, where he represented and advised clients across a range of different industries.  Throughout his career, Corey has also devoted a substantial portion of his practice to pro bono representation of a wide range of indigent clients, from under-resourced artists and inventors, to impoverished children and homeless veterans, to a variety of NGOs, to indigent defendants.  He currently serves on the Board of Directors of California Lawyers for the Arts, and is a founder and member of the Steering Committee of the international Inventors Assistance Program (IAP), a joint initiative of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the World Economic Forum, which provides pro bono legal services to under-resourced inventors in developing countries.  He is a frequent speaker on IP policy, innovation and related topics, and has appeared in a variety of influential venues around the world.
