Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for Innovation & Intellectual Property. In this capacity, Mehta is responsible for developing and overseeing U.S. trade policy related to innovation and intellectual property (IP). Prior to his appointment, Mehta was Deputy Assistant U.S. Trade Representative, where he served as the lead Intellectual Property negotiator for the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). Mehta previously served as Associate General Counsel at USTR, where he provided legal counsel and analysis on intellectual property, standards, labor, and trade preference programs for emerging markets. Mehta also represented the United States in litigation before the World Trade Organization. While at USTR, he was selected to serve as special advisor to the U.S. Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator where he helped develop international economic policy
