Intellectual Property Chapter in the historic trade agreement between Mercosur and the EU

After 20 years of negotiations, Mercosur and the EU reached an agreement for the exchange of goods and services, creating a market of 800 million consumers.

The agreement, which involves the 28 EU nations and the four Mercosur countries: Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay, deals with tariff and service issues, including intellectual property.

While the entry into force of this agreement may take a couple of years taking into account that it must be ratified by the respective parliaments of the nations involved, we want share with you the chapter on intellectual property for your information and analysis on its scope and impact. At ASIPI we are also studying the text and will share our comments shortly.
