Armando Arenas joined OLIVARES in 2000. He is a partner at the firm and co-chairs the Litigation group. His experience covers a wide spectrum of issues related to Intellectual Property (IP), such as patent consultation and litigation, unfair competition, protection of commercial image, as well as civil and administrative actions related to intellectual property. It is worth highlighting his professional career in regulatory matters of health legislation in Mexico. On behalf of Novartis, Boehringer Ingelheim, Lundbeck and AstraZeneca, he obtained the restoration of the validity of their patents in terms of transitory art. 12 of the law for the Promotion of Industrial Protection, obtained the declaration of nullity of sanitary registrations granted for generic drugs in order to observe the linking system (Linkage System) for patents of pharmaceutical formulation and medical use published in the gazette allopathic drug patent over Novartis and Elli Lilly and Company patents; Represented innovative pharmaceutical companies in procedures in which patent infringement was declared against pharmaceutical companies that imported raw materials without having demonstrated that they were in the exceptions to the law such as experimental use and Roche-Bolar clause, has participated in litigation advising the Mexican Association of Pharmaceutical Research Industries regarding recent reforms to the law related to the acquisition of drugs in public tenders and UNOPS. He continuously participates in national and international forums as a speaker on regulatory, litigation and intellectual property issues.
