Ehtical and Safety considerations in AI use (plus practical Dos and Dont´s)
When referring to Artificial Intelligence, what comes to mind is the ability of machines to imitate the way humans learn and even how we reason; machines with cognitive processing capabilities that can potentially make decisions autonomously based on the information they are fed. Also, what comes to mind are the risks and unintended consequences resulting from these capabilities. In practice, depending on the data collection and feeding process (e.g., data scraping) and the learning model, as well as the purpose of the tool or system in question, a series of infringements and violations of third-party rights may occur, such as image rights, privacy, personality, or questionable effects. For example, the operational use of Generative AI tools and Chatbots may result in what are known as “hallucinations” (in 2023, lawyers were sanctioned by a court for submitting a document prepared by a Generative AI tool, which included false citations and nonexistent judicial precedents). It is consequently valid to discuss the ethical issues surrounding AI and its development. There are already lessons learned, and limits have been defined; our panelists will share, based on their experience, the “dos and don’ts” and aspects of conduct which they consider relevant in this growing world of AI.
