ASIPI – SENATE OF PARAGUAY Seminar on "Law on Access to Public Information and Intellectual Property"

seminario1The Inter-American Association of Intellectual Property (ASIPI) and the Committee on Industry, Trade and Tourism of the Senate of Paraguay, jointly organized the seminar on “Law on Access to Public Information and Intellectual Property”, an event held in Asuncion on Tuesday, October 25 in the Hall of the National Congress, which was attended by over 70 participants.

The event was opened by Senator Arnaldo Giuzzio, president of the Committee on Industry, Trade and Tourism. Patricia Stanley (National Director of Intellectual Property (DINAPI), and Raquel Toñánez (ASIPI Delegate) also atended the welcome ceremony.

Speakers addressed the following topics:

Wilfrido Avalos Romero, Head of Access to Public Information of the Senate, showed the advances and experiences of the application of Law No. 5,282 / 14 “Citizen free access to public information and government transparency” in the Senate.

Then the Director of Access to Public Information of the Ministry of Justice, Vanesa Lugo, referred to the “Role of the Ministry of Justice in the implementation of Law No. 5282/14 and its regulatory decree.”

On the other hand, the Director of the DINAPI Patricia Stanley addressed the “Experience of DINAPI in the access and application of Law 5282/14.

Regarding the relation between the law on access to public information and intellectual property, the expert Federico Legal gave a presentation on “Legal Considerations of the Access to Public Information in Intellectual Property”.

Finally, the foreign experto on behalf of IDEA, Ezequiel Santagada, spoke about the “Right of Access to Public Information. Legal framework and recent court decisions. “

Aldo Fabrizio Modica (Alternate Delegate of ASIPI) was in charge of the moderation of the event.

There was a space for questions and opinions, ending with the final conclusions and signature of the minutes. The seminar was broadcasted live, through the Senate television channel and the website of the Senate.
