The ASIPI-WIPO Workshop on PCT in Asuncion was held on Friday, November 11, 2016 at the Gran Hotel of Paraguay, with the participation of approximately 30 attendees.

The foreign speakers were Mr. Rolando M. Hernández Vigaud, Chief, Office Services Section, Division of International Cooperation, Patent and Technology Sector, World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Mr. Peter Waring, Chief, Technical Cooperation Section, Division of International Cooperation, Patent and Technology Sector, WIPO, and Mr. Christof Mathoi, Attorney, PCT Affairs, European Patent Office.  Ms. Raquel Tóñanez and Mr. Fabrizio Modica participated in their capacity of Delegate and Alternate Delegate of ASIPI, respectively.

The characteristics of the PCT were discussed, as well as the electronic mechanisms for requesting the ePCT and the experience of the European Patent Office. Finally, it was agreed the importance and benefits that would bring to Paraguay the adhesion to that international treaty.
