A pleasant discussion between expert technology lawyers and amateurs took place on the occasion of the Webinar organized by the Inter-American Association of Intellectual Property, ASIPI, “Technology in times of crisis.”

It was held on May 14, 2020, and had participants from all over the hemisphere. Colombian lawyer Erick Rincón, expert in Legaltech and Fintech, former president of a digital signature certification entity, recognized expert in Electronic Commerce and a fan of technology contributed his knowledge on security, blockchain, Smart contracts and electronic and digital signatures. Fedor Saldivia, founder of the renowned blog elgordocircuito.com, who in addition to being a lawyer and businessman is a renowned influencer, with his customary style he debunked several myths about technology that circulate online and imposed a pleasant tone on a conversation that is usually difficult for the technical language involved.

The Webinar was an initiative of the ASIPI Technology Committee, and was moderated by the Colombian lawyer, Juan Felipe Acosta, its president. The purpose of the Webinar was to provide tools to the different members of ASIPI and to the business and legal community in general, to address the saturation of information on technological tools, in these difficult times and to make the best decisions.

Participants left with interesting insights into video conferencing, smart contracts, the relationship of technology to good faith, blockchain, electronic signatures, and with a few myths on their minds.
