This webinar addressed the importance of patent information, the different types of searches that can be carried out with such information and discussed the search services offered by patent offices in various Latin American countries.

Margarita Romero (Romero Corral Abogados- Ecuador) and Alexander Agudelo (Olarte Moure & Asociados – Colombia) were the speakers of this webinar that took place on July 2 and Roberto J. Ríos (Hoglund & Pamias – Puerto Rico) was the moderator.

Through this webinar we were able to understand the importance of patent documents beyond a simple search for patentability. It was discussed the different types of searches that we can perform in light of all the information available and previously organized and how we can use searches as tools in the various stages of marketing an asset. Finally, the patent search services currently available and offered by the patent offices of several Latin American countries were discussed and it was concluded that patent offices have areas of opportunity to improve the availability of online resources, reduce the delivery times of the results and above all it was evidenced that many patent offices did not have contingency plans or the adequate infrastructure to adjust their services during extraordinary situations.
