ASIPI / INTA Study "The Marks in Latin America"

The main objective of this work is to study the economic impact of the activities brand-intensive in five Latin American countries: Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Panama and Peru. The main question to be answered is the following: what is the impact of trademark-intensive activities on employment, wages, economic activity, and exports and imports of the selected countries?
The results prepared show that brand-intensive activities have a significant participation in terms of employment, economic activity and foreign trade in the economies of the Latin American countries under study.
In addition, brand-intensive activities pay higher salaries, suggesting a higher degree of productivity for companies that use brands to identify their products and services. Finally, the study finds that the degree and scope

To carry out the study, statistical data on trademark registration were gathered from the respective Intellectual Property Protection Offices of the countries under analysis and from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). The data
Economic data come from the statistical offices of each country and from international sources.
