Beyond intellectual property. The illicit trade in goods from a comprehensive approach

Beyond intellectual property. The illicit trade in goods from a comprehensive approach

The objective of this webinar, which took place on October 1st, was that both the public and the authorities are aware of the programs that are carried out internationally to combat piracy.

The speakers were Luis Sierra ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement), Cesar Schiaffino from the WCO Container Control Program, Arturo Bustamante and Aaron Aguilar from Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and Felix Avellán from INTERPOL

The moderation was in charge of Estela de Luca from REACT and Maria Cecilia Romoleroux from CorralRosales Ecuador.

The webinar resulted in the panelists and participants getting to know each other and learning about the efforts that each organization carries out, so that they can unify concepts and efforts in the fight against piracy on intellectual property issues.

It is important that all the actors in the fight against anti-piracy join forces on an issue that is widely talked about but little is known in practice. Several international organizations carry out programs to control piracy, so it is important that ASIPI, as the main actor in IP education in LATIN AMERICA, puts these issues on the table so that they can be analyzed in depth. It is worth highlighting the participation of exhibitors of the stature that we achieved in this webinar that ratifies the commitment they have with LATAM together with REACT.
