In this webinar, the panelists will share the experiences of their respective countries in implementing and using the Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) system, providing a comprehensive view of its impact in the region. Special attention will be given to the operation of the PPH in Brazil, Argentina, and Chile. In the case of Argentina, the sui generis system in place will be explored, highlighting its particularities and differences from other PPH systems.
We will provide a general introduction on the availability and use of the PPH in Latin America, emphasizing the main advantages and challenges that this system presents for patent applicants in the region. Additionally, we will discuss how the PPH has influenced processing times, the efficiency of patent offices, and international cooperation in industrial property matters. The goal of the webinar is to offer an in-depth understanding of the role of the PPH in the region, as well as a comparative analysis of its performance.
