The laws that regulate the protection of the ornamental aspect of an object vary from country to country. In most countries they are registered as Industrial Designs or Models while in other countries they are protected by Design Patents.

In most cases, agents or attorneys are familiar with the regulations and particularities associated with the national registration process in their countries. However, there are critical differences in the various processes and regulations of each country whose ignorance could be fatal for the protection of a design in several countries. In this webinar we will discuss requirements and limitations of the protection process established by some intellectual property offices in the Latin American region and establish a contrast with the protection process in the United States.
