Behind the scenes… how does generative AI work?

AI works by combining large amounts of data through intelligent algorithms that enable machine ‘learning’ through very fast and interactive processing. Certainly, not all AI modalities function in the same way, as this will be conditioned by the objective of their creation, use, and abilities, for which specific algorithms are developed. However, the way data and content are obtained and used to feed machine learning processes and the output of those processes may directly conflict with third-party rights (such as personal data, image rights, and privacy, security, among others) and may have other implications for individuals and society. For legal professionals, particularly in Intellectual Property, these developments pose new challenges in terms of respecting and balancing rights. Our panelists will take us on a journey that will allow us to understand how AI works, what it ‘feeds on,’ why and how it grows and multiplies.
