Manuel Desantes

Manuel DESANTES REAL is Professor of Private International Law at the University of Alicante since 1992. He has been Vice-Rector and Acting Rector of the University of Alicante (1996-1998), Member of the Legal Service of the European Commission (1998-2001) in charge of Intellectual Property, Electronic Commerce and Digital Law, Vice- President of the European Patent Office (Munich) from 2001 to 2008 and Of Counsel at the firm ELZABURU (2010-2022). Founder of the Magister Lvcentinvs (Master in Industrial and Intellectual Property) at the University of Alicante. He is a Fellow of the Eisenhower Foundation, Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the Metaverso UA Chair (2022-), Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the Munich Intellectual Property Law Center (2022-), Director of the Course on Global innovation Law and Policy at the University of Alicante (2001-), Former President of the Council of ASIPI Academia (2021-2023), Chairman of the EIPIN Scholar Foundation Board (2022- ), Member of the International Academic Council of FIDE (Foundation for Research on Law and Business) (2018-) and the only European Member of the Committee of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade/China Chamber of International Commerce (CCPIT/CCOIC) Intellectual Property Mediation Center (2021-). He has published seven books and more than a hundred research papers on Private International Law, Intellectual and Industrial Property and Hybrid Technology Law. He has taught a complete Course at the Hague Academy of Private International Law (2019).
