Francisco Perez

Francisco is a partner and leads the Intellectual Property and Personal Data Protection practice areas at Pérez Bustamante & Ponce Abogados in Ecuador. He has three decades of experience advising in entertainment, copyright, trademarks, patents, franchises, innovative technology, and data privacy. He manages the strategy for large national and international trademark portfolios.

Francisco has presided over the most important intellectual property associations in Ecuador, such as the Ecuadorian Intellectual Property Association (AEPI) and the Ecuadorian Group of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI). He
has served as the country’s delegate to ASIPI and as the representative of the Chambers of Production before the Trademark Office.

In the academic field, he has been a professor of Intellectual Property in master’s programs at local universities and a speaker at various forums, both in Ecuador and internationally.

He has been a pioneer in Ecuador in addressing mental health issues in the legal environment. He is a certified therapist in Bioneuroemotion, Bach Flowers, and Rakiram. He has practiced Yoga and meditation for 20 years and, as an instructor, has over 9 years of
training in Kundalini, Hatha, and Raja Yoga. He is currently the President of the Traditional Yogas Association of Ecuador.
