Curriculum Vitae
María Belén Cañas has a law degree from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador and a Master’s Degree in Procedural Law from Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar.
With a solid professional background, she focuses her practice in key areas of law such as intellectual property, arbitration and mediation, civil and commercial matters, regulatory law, personal data protection and procedural law. She has extensive experience as a speaker and trainer, participating in several courses and seminars on intellectual property, oral litigation, civil procedural law and diversity and inclusion issues.
Currently, she is partner of IN-LEGAL law firm, where she provides comprehensive legal advice to companies and organizations. She combines her professional practice with the legal representation of the Secretariat of the Americas Alliance of BirdLife International. In addition, María Belén is Senior Director and Treasurer of the Ecuadorian Association of Intellectual Property (AEPI) and an active member of the Interamerican Association of Intellectual Property (ASIPI).
