Pharmaceutical Chemist from the National University of Colombia, with a Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Montreal, Canada, and a law degree from the National University of Colombia.
He is a partner at OlarteMoure and has about 25 years of experience, during which he has led an interdisciplinary team of more than 40 people, developing robust practice in global patent drafting and prosecution. He specializes in patents, particularly in the fields of pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and life sciences, with experience across Latin America in over 18 countries.
His professional practice focuses on patent prosecution and litigation, as well as preparing Freedom to Operate (FTO) analyses, patent validity assessments, and infringement opinions for both local and international clients. Additionally, he is frequently invited by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) to participate as a speaker in international workshops on patent drafting. Alexander also teaches Intellectual Property courses at several universities in Colombia.
