Sugarcane Route and Tobatí Artisan Circuit
Piribebuy · Caacupé · Tobatí, Paraguay
The Sugarcane Route is a cultural journey that highlights Paraguay’s tradition of sugarcane production, from which a distilled alcoholic beverage is made. It is an experience that combines rural traditions and local knowledge, history, gastronomy, and both artisanal and industrial processes.
The Tobatí Handicrafts Circuit is a cultural experience that allows visitors to explore one of Paraguay’s most authentic traditions: handcrafted production using clay and other materials, developed over generations. The tour includes visits to family-run and community workshops where participants can observe—and even take part in—the artisanal creation process.
This Route is the first joint initiative combining the work of ASIPI’s Geographical Indications Committee and the Committee on Traditional Knowledge, Genetic Resources, and Traditional Specialties Guaranteed.
