Dr. Gonzalo Rovira serves as Head of Intellectual Property for Latin America at Bayer Group, overseeing IP matters for the Life Sciences and Crop Sciences business units. He holds a Juris Doctor degree from the Argentine Catholic University and a Master’s in Intellectual Property and Commerce from Franklin Pierce Law Center, United States.
Dr. Rovira began his legal career in Argentina’s National Judiciary, working for the National Commercial Court No. 2 and Chamber D of the National Chamber of Commercial Appeals. He later transitioned to private practice as an associate at Brons & Salas, focusing on corporate and intellectual property law. In 2005, he joined Monsanto Company in the U.S. as Legal Counsel in the Intellectual Property department, later relocating to Argentina in 2010 to assume the role of Senior Legal Manager for Monsanto Latin America South. Since March 2025, Dr. Rovira leads the Intellectual Property Department for Latin America at Bayer Group.
Beyond his professional career, Dr. Rovira is actively engaged in academics and the IP community. He teaches in the Master’s in IP and Innovation program at Universidad de San Andrés and Universidad Austral and has published numerous articles on intellectual property, innovation, and biotechnology. He holds key leadership roles, including Chairman of the IP Committee at the American Chamber of
Commerce in Argentina, Vice President of the Global Intellectual Property Alliance (GLIPA) for Latin America, Director of the IP Institute at Asociación Argentina de Justicia Constitucional, and Chairman of the Latin America Practice Committee at the Intellectual Property Owners Association (IPO).
