Gabriela Alegría is a senior legal professional with over twenty years of experience in Intellectual Property, combining deep expertise in both the public and private sectors. She currently leads the division responsible for the examination and registration of trademarks, geographical indications, and appellations of origin at the National Institute of Industrial Property of Chile (INAPI). Her career has focused on the design and implementation of inclusive IP policies, institutional modernization, and the digital transformation of public services.
Under her leadership, INAPI has become a regional benchmark in the use of artificial intelligence applied to trademark examination, developing machine learning tools for classification and similarity search. She also directed the implementation of the Madrid Protocol and Chile’s Industrial Property Law reform (Law No. 21.355), strengthening the international projection of the Chilean IP system. Gabriela actively participates in multilateral WIPO committees and regional and international cooperation networks. She holds a Law degree, an MBA in Public Administration — with a focus on modern management techniques— and postgraduate diplomas in Intellectual Property, Competition Law, and Tax Administration.
