Mariano Riccheri is an EUIPO official and the Action Leader of the IP component of AL-INVEST Verde, an EU-funded initiative implemented by EUIPO to leverage intellectual property for sustainability and innovation across Latin America.
Based in Montevideo, he coordinates regional cooperation with national IP offices and public-private stakeholders, advancing examination guidelines, quality and process improvements, a Judges’ Network, and mentorships on geographical indications and trademarks. His portfolio blends benchmarking with European offices, methodological transfer, and hands-on technical support to deliver measurable outcomes for institutions and productive sectors. Previously, he directed for eight years the Master’s in Intellectual Property at the University of Alicante, a reference program for Europe and the region. His approach integrates governance, capacity building, and the strategic use of intangibles to drive a green transition that is competitive and inclusive.
