Juan Manuel Díaz

Colombian lawyer from Universidad de los Andes, specialized in intellectual property and entertainment law with a career of almost 10 years as Chief Legal Officer at Caracol Televisión, one of the main television networks in Colombia. In this role, he leads a legal team that supports audiovisual production, the acquisition of intellectual property rights and other lines of business of the channel. In the audiovisual and entertainment production field, his work has allowed him to direct legal strategies, all the way from the acquisition of rights to post-production, implementing processes to mitigate and control legal risk while harmonizing with the channel’s creative needs. Together with his team, he has implemented legal production guidelines and developed legal clearance processes for Caracol’s own production and for international platforms. Recently, he has participated with the network’s innovation areas, including research to adapt contracts and practices to the use of generative artificial intelligence, proactively addressing the associated legal challenges and risks. His training includes a Master’s Degree in Intellectual Property Law from The George Washington University Law School and a specialization in Industrial Property, Copyright and New Technologies from the Universidad Externado de Colombia.
