Mónica Emilia Valdés de la Torre, graduated with a degree in Graphic Communication Design from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana. Since 2002, she works at the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI) in the Divisional Patent Office as a background examiner of registration applications of industrial designs. As a result of her work at IMPI, she has complemented her training with several courses related to Industrial Property given by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the World Trade Organization (WTO), as well by the Office of Patents of Japan (JPO). Among her activities, she in charge of the preparation and decision of background examination of registration applications of industrial designs; provide technical support for inspection visits and prepare technical opinions
