Julio Laso

Julio Laso is Vice President Legal & Compliance of Banco Pichincha since 2019. He is in charge of the Legal Practice, which includes: business advisory, operations, contracting, regulatory matters and litigation, with one of the largest teams of in-house lawyers in the country. She also supervises the anti-money laundering area of the largest and most transactional bank of the financial system in Ecuador and has led the implementation of a Compliance program under international standards.

In the past he worked for Citi in Ecuador as Legal Vice President and later also as Head of Human Resources and Senior Vice President for Government Affairs. His previous experience has been in legal and business advisory positions at Produbanco and its subsidiaries, he was founder of the law firm Lexvalor and has worked for several other private and public sector entities.

He is a lawyer and Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Catholic University of Ecuador and a graduate of the Institute of Latin American Studies of the Sorbonne University in France. He holds a Master’s degree in Banking Law and Financial Markets from Panthéon Sorbonne University and an LL.M. in International Business Law from the Institute of Comparative Law in Paris. He also completed a Management Skills program at Saint Vincent College and a Business Administration program at Aden Business School, as well as several courses and seminars in Lima, San José, New York, Sao Paulo, Mexico, San Francisco, among others.

He is Vice President of the Ecuadorian Banking Law Committee, and has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Ecuadorian-American Chamber AMCHAM and Asobanca.
