Guillermo Carey is a lawyer from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Partner of Carey and co-head of the firm’s Intellectual Property and Information Technology, and Venture Capital and Private Equity Groups. Also, he is the head of the Life Sciences Group. His practice specializes in intellectual property, life sciences, IP litigation, licensing, distribution and franchise agreement, data privacy, technology law, trademarks, patents, electronic commerce, technology transfer and data protection, Director of Global Data Observatory.   Past President of AmCham Chile, and director since 2014, a position from which he was responsible for the Committee on Innovation and Intellectual Property, leading – together with the members of the committee – the follow-up of the reform of the Personal Data Protection Act, the promotion of innovation and development, the Tu Creación Vale program and other initiatives related to innovation and technology transfer. He was also Legal Counsel of Crystal Lagoons, where he participated in the global expansion of the company; particularly to start operations in the United States between 2011 and 2012. He has advised Chilean companies with a high impact on technology transfer and internationalization. In addition, he has been recognized as a Leading Lawyer in Intellectual Property and Pharmaceutical and Regulatory Law by Chambers Latin America and as Best Individual Intellectual Property Attorney by Client Choice Guide, among other distinctions. He is the author of several local and foreign publications, as well as being a member of the Endeavor Council, Director of Global Data Observatory and Board member of Fundación Pro Innovación.
