Curriculum Vitae
Founding partner of OlarteMoure, a 170-person firm specializing in industrial property and competition law, with offices in Bogotá, Medellín, Barranquilla, Bucaramanga, Cali and Tokyo. His professional practice is focused on patent prosecution and litigation, and the development of strategies for monetization and protection of new technologies. An important percentage of his practice is concentrated in the life sciences industry. Another important base of clients includes universities and local companies with high innovation content.
Carlos obtained a B.S.E. in Biomedical and Mechanical Engineering from Duke University in 1990. He then went on to law school at Chicago-Kent College of Law, where he obtained his J.D. in 1993. He is a licensed lawyer in the State of Illinois and the Republic of Colombia.
From 1997 to 2018 he was professor of the patent course at the Externado University of Colombia (Specialization and Master in IP). He also actively participates in WIPO patent drafting workshops and the pro bono Inventor Assistance Program.
