The academic program of ASIPI ended with resounding success. Prior to the start of the presentations, the Executive Committee held a meeting with Rosa María Franco, representative of the International Association of Professionals of Privacy (IAPP). With this meeting both institutions aimed to strengthen ties of collaboration, and evaluate possible joint projects.

The first topic of the day, entitled “From Subtlety to Imprudence: Imitating the Market Leaders (Trade dress)”, was developed by panelists María Elena Lambraño from CHANEL Panamá and Christian Durán from Duran-Corretjer, and moderator José Pablo Pérez from Santamarina y Steta, SC.

Then, Robert Weiss of Neal, Gerber & Eisenberg, LLP, and Ignacio de León of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), with the moderation of Marcos Lapenne of Fox & Lapenne, addressed the panel of “My client has the App of the century. How do I protect it? “

Once the coffee break was over, “Trends in Labels Regulations. Requiem to Trademark Law?” was developed, with speakers Laura Sansalvador from Grupo Arcor and Andrés Fernando Grunewaldt from Silva, Chile, with Armando Arenas, from the Olivares office, as a moderator.

The panel “Native Advertising” was explained by Alejandro Betancourt of Procter & Gamble and Jeffrey Greenbaum, of Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz, while Roberto Arochi of Arochi & Linder, oversaw the times.

The Committee of Social Responsibility carried out an activity of ASIPIEDUCA in the Isaac Rabin School, in which children were instructed on the importance of repeating and protecting Intellectual Property rights.

For the conclusion of the day, the innovative theme of “Social media and Attourneys: How can firms make efficient and effective use of it?” was addressed with the participation of Ross Fishman as a panelist, and Martín Pittaluga as moderator.

Completed in its entirety the academic agenda, the participants enjoyed a fun night at the Closing Dinner in the Grand Pacific Room of the Trump International Hotel & Tower Panama, with the presentation of the famous Panamanian singer-songwriter, Omar Alfano.
