Gonzalo Luzuriaga

Since 1999, I have been dedicated to providing Intellectual Property advice to national and international companies. As a specialized attorney in this field since 2003, I have had the privilege of collaborating with renowned brands in Ecuador to protect their assets. In 2004, I joined forces with esteemed colleagues to establish Luzuriaga & Castro Abogados, with the goal of offering high-quality legal services for businesses.

That same year, I led and executed the first raids against counterfeit products in the country’s major cities. In 2005, I participated in the first Border Measures procedure to protect trademarks in Ecuador and successfully obtained the first confirmatory administrative resolution. In 2006, I obtained the first criminal conviction against an infringer of trademark rights.

Since then, I have had the honor of participating in the establishment of significant precedents in Intellectual Property law in Ecuador. Among them, the noteworthy accomplishment is the first ruling protecting intellectual property rights issued by the Constitutional Court of Ecuador in 2012, which has been followed by two additional rulings reaffirming the legal framework for trademark protection in Ecuador.

Today, in my role as a legal advisor in Intellectual Property, I consider myself a passionate advocate for intellectual rights and an enthusiast for technology, compliance with fair competition rules, and the promotion of entrepreneurship. My commitment is to continue contributing to the strengthening and protection of Intellectual Property in Ecuador and internationally.
