Luis Guinard

Curriculum Vitae

Luis Guinard holds a degree in Law and Political Science from the University of Panama (1992); he has a Master’s degree in Commercial Law from the Santa María La Antigua Catholic University (Magna Cum Laude) and master’s studies in Banking Law from the same university. He holds post-graduate studies in the Franchise Executive Certification Program (PROCEF) of the Universidad Anáhuac of Mexico, which he culminated in the highest academic index. He is Professor of Intellectual Property Law and Banking Law of the Santa María La Antigua Catholic University. He is a member and immediate president of the Panamanian Association of Intellectual Property Law (APADEPI); member of the Inter-American Intellectual Property Association (ASIPI) and was ASIPI´s Principal Delegate of Panama from 2009 to 2012; Secretary of the Anti-piracy Committee of this Association from 2012 to 2015; He is currently Judge of the Court of ASIPI; member and former president (2010-2012) of the Andean Chapter of Licensing Executives Society; Former president of the Panamanian group to the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI); He is a member of the International Trademark Association; He has been a lecturer and writer, both locally and internationally, in matters of banking law and intellectual property; Participated as part of the private sector in the negotiations of free trade agreements with the United States, Peru, the Association Agreement with the European Union, the FTA with Mexico and the FTA with EFTA; It is a certified arbitrator of the Inter-American Association of Intellectual Property (ASIPI). He is currently a partner of the firms Guinard, Noriega & Martinelli, of the firm Vallarino, Vallarino & García-Maritano and associate director of the franchise consulting firm Gallástegui Armella Franquicias Panama.
