Maria Scungio

Maria Scungio is the Second Vice-President of AIPPI, and is a partner at the firm of Robinson & Cole in New York. She has more than 25 years of experience advising on trademark, copyright and design rights issues—including global clearance, protection, enforcement, licensing and transactional matters—for well-known brands. Maria’s practice includes counseling clients in the fields of skincare, apparel, footwear, jewelry, food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, entertainment publishing and programming, healthcare services and fiber laser products. She advises on strategic issues affecting the exploitation, enforcement, transfer and re-alignment of intelectual property rights for U.S. and worldwide portfolios. Maria has litigated cases before U.S. federal courts and the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. She has also partnered with clients to serve as interim in-house intelectual property counsel during corporate transactions. Prior to joining Robinson & Cole, Maria served as co-chair of the Trademark, Copyright and Advertising Group at Locke Lord and at Edwards Wildman (2008-2017). She began her legal career as a law Clerk to the Honorable Jane A. Restani at the U.S. Court of International Trade.
