CELL PHONE

Your cell phone will work, but be aware of the rates of Rooming International. Bring your charger. It is best to contact your service provider before traveling to Aruba. Cell phones can be rented at the airport arrival terminal.

DRIVING

Traffic signals in Aruba are different from the ones in the United States. Become familiar with traffic rules before driving. Roads are very slippery after rain; be careful. To have an all-terrain adventure, consider renting a 4×4 or a jeep.

INTERNET SERVICE

LEGAL AGE

The legal drinking age in Aruba is 18, as to access the casinos. An identification is necessary in both cases.

MEDICAL FACILITIES

Ask at the hotel about health care. Requirements: Be sure to bring your prescriptions with you. Foreign-made prescriptions cannot be filled in Aruba. It will be necessary to arrange an appointment with a local doctor who would provide a local prescription for medicine or the equivalent, if it is not available here. MONEY

To change florins into dollars, divide the amount of the guilder in half and add 10%. This formula is especially useful during shopping in supermarkets. The exchange rate of cash dollar is 1.77, 1.78 for travelers’ checks, 1.75 in supermarkets and gas stations and 1.80 in most shops and restaurants. Credit cards and traveler’s checks are accepted. Personal checks out of Aruba are not accepted. Some stores do not accept bills of 50 or 100 dollars due to counterfeiting.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

There are daily bus service along the hotel area. The fee per day is of US $ 1,50 / Or $ 2.30 / roundtrip. There is bus service every 15 minutes from 5:45 am until 6:00 pm, after hours buses run every 40 minutes until 11:30 pm. The central bus station in downtown Oranjestad is opposite to the cruise terminal next to Plaza Real.

SHOPPING HOURS

Main Street – open from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 pm. Renaissance Mall – open from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 pm. Mercado Renaissance – open from 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 pm. Palm Beach Plaza – open from 2: 00 pm to 10:00 pm / weekends from 2:00 pm to 11:00 pm. Heritage Paseo – open from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm / Sundays 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm. SERVICE COSTS AND TIPS

The cost of the service in a restaurant is shared with all employees and the kitchen staff. If in the the account is included the price of the service, tipping is not mandatory, but leaving a tip for good service is appreciated. If no service charge, a tip of roughly 15% of the total bill is suggested.

PAID PARKING
