Tech standarization and SEPs – Trends

The official determination of standards that involve a patented invention would imply that products that comply with the norm or standard violate it, unless they are the products of the invention’s owner or have their authorization. Standard essential patents (SEPs), are common in highly standardized technology sectors such as telecommunications and mobile devices. Cases involving SEPs and the resulting conditions and obligations under the FRAND concept (Fair, Reasonable, and Non-Discriminatory) are becoming more widely known.
