Shabnam Malek

Shabnam Malek is the Chief Legal Officer for 1906, an infused cannabis products and botanicals company. She oversees all things legal, compliance, and government affairs while also wearing a business development hat. Shabnam’s passion is in education and developing deep relationships among lawyers. Toward this goal, Shabnam is a co-founder and the founding President of the International Cannabis Bar Association (INCBA) and currently sits on its advisory board. Shabnam also chairs the PLI Cannabis Business Law program and is an adjunct professor at the University of New Hampshire School of Law. Shabnam continues as a partner at the law firm Brand & Branch.

Shabnam regularly speaks and writes on the topics of trademarks, brand expansion, regulated industries such as cannabis and hemp, and the role of women in creating change. She is an advisor to the Cannabis Media Council, sits on the Law360 Cannabis Editorial Advisory Board, and is an active member of the International Trademark Association. Shabnam was named a Northern California Rising Star three years in a row by Super Lawyers Magazine and has been ranked in Chambers USA Guide.
